The Postgraduate Program "Hotel Management - Executive MBA in Hotel Management" is the result of the close cooperation between two University Departments. The Department of Tourism Management of the University of West Attica and the Department of Business Administration and Tourism of the Hellenic Mediterranean University.

The University of West Attica is the third largest university in the country in terms of the number of registered undergraduate students, with approximately 55,700 students. The University has 6 Faculties (School of Public Health, School of Administrative, Economic & Social Sciences, School of Food Sciences, School of Health and Welfare Sciences, School of Applied Arts and Culture and School of Engineering) and 26 Departments, covering the whole range of university studies.

The University's premises are developed in three campuses (Aigaleo Grove, Ancient Eleonas and Athens), while another campus in Moschato is under construction.

All the activities of the University of West Attica take place in the modern infrastructure of the campuses. All three campuses, in addition to teaching and research facilities, have conference centres, libraries, restaurants, gyms, health care facilities, canteens and recreational facilities for students.

The University of West Attica offers a wide range of educational services, from two-year courses to doctoral theses.

The Department of Tourism Management of the University of West Attica operates in the Aigaleo Park Campus in the city of Aigaleo, Attica, Greece.

The purpose of the Department of Tourism Management is:

  • Research and updating of knowledge in the scientific fields of the sector,
  • To provide students with high quality studies in all areas of Tourism Sciences,
  • To provide high level knowledge and skills on the strategy of Tourism Organisations, Bodies and Enterprises, at national and international level.

The objectives of the department are:

  • To meet the needs of Greek tourism, by creating executives of higher university education, dealing with development and policy in tourism at international, national, regional and local level,
  • To prepare students for senior management positions in tourism companies and organisations.

Since the 1970s, the Department of Tourism Management has been supporting the Tourism Industry with its graduates, while the research work of its teachers has laid the foundations of the scientific reality of tourism in our country, actively participating in national and international events.

The Department already operates three inter-institutional Postgraduate Programmes of Studies entitled "Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Tourism", "Business Operations Management" and "Advanced Management Systems".

Research

The Department operates the Laboratory "Tourism Planning and Applied Tourism Business Research". The aim of the "Tourism Planning and Applied Tourism Business Research" laboratory is to cover the research and educational needs in the scientific fields of Economics, Management, Marketing, Informatics and Sociology related to Tourism Development and the operation of Tourism Businesses.

The Mediterranean University

The Hellenic Mediterranean University (ELMEPA) is one of the largest and most dynamic universities in the country.

Today ELMEPA has 5 Faculties (Management and Economic Sciences, Health Sciences, Engineering, Music and Optoacoustic Sciences, Agriculture), 11 dynamic Departments and approximately 12,000 active students. The Department of Business Administration and Tourism (B & T) of ELMEPA is based in Heraklion, Crete and is the only university department in Crete that deals with the science of business administration and the only one that offers university-level education in tourism, satisfying a long-standing demand of the island's institutions and businesses for the production of qualified scientists and executives in tourism. The Department's Undergraduate Studies Programme (PES) is modern, innovative and structured according to the needs of the labour market and modern entrepreneurship, providing its students with all the necessary skills, knowledge and skills that will ensure a successful career in businesses, institutions and organizations, both nationally and internationally. Students can choose between two advanced courses from the 5th semester onwards.

The cognitive subjects treated by the Department meet the contemporary needs of a critical approach to economic and management science, with emphasis on individual fields such as strategic planning, human resource management, quality management, financial management, marketing.

The vision of the Department of Business & Tourism is to establish it in Greece and in the Mediterranean and Southeastern Europe as an important academic department oriented to Business Administration and Management as well as to Leisure Economy and Tourism Management.

The Department of TE&T offers a comprehensive course of study, as in addition to the basic qualification, it offers courses at levels 7 and 8 of the National Qualifications Framework:

  • Master's degree in "Hospitality and Tourism Business Management".
  • Postgraduate specialization program entitled "Organization and Management for Engineers" in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • Postgraduate specialization program entitled "Hotel Management - Executive MBA in Hotel Management" in collaboration with the Department of Tourism Management of the University of West Attica.
  • Doctoral Programme of Studies in the subjects he/she treats
  • Ability to carry out postdoctoral research.

Two institutionalized research laboratories operate in the Department of DE&T:

  1. Tourism and Entrepreneurship Laboratory (TenLab)
  2. Operational Research and Management Control Laboratory (OramaLab)

with strong research activity, participation in research projects and synergies with the market and the real economy.
